It's ok to protest, the alleged torture by security forces. But the protestors should have taken care and should not have disrespected our National Flag. And even the case of police questioning men from Azamgarh district,it will be far better if every body in that rally sits and think why such suspicion is there. They should try and understand and control the situation and ensure that the youth of the district does not stray into terror activities.
There will be no smoke without a fire...!!!
Our security forces should also try to ensure that as far as possible innocent civilians are not caught up in terror investigations. But it's difficult to ensure that 100% and there will be some unfortunate incidents here and there.
As for the Flag fiasco,it's amazing nobody yet noticed it..!!!
So far as I am able to judge, nothing has been left undone, either by man or nature, to make INDIA the most extraordinary country that the sun visits on his rounds. Nothing seems to have been forgotten, nothing overlooked--Mark Twain.

Now the target is Iran
pakistan is not only creating trouble in India and Afganistan but recently it's trying it's hand in Iran as well. It's also engaged in supporting Islamic terror groups inside China, even though it claims China to be it's 'all weather friend'.
Any way the world has accepted the fact that pakistan is the epicentre of terrorism. But the report that pakistan is trying it's hand in Iran is rather surprising. It's amazing to think that the pakistani establishment is soooo foolish to open up hotspots on it's border with Iran as well.
See below a report from sify:
A top Iranian police commander has accused Islamabad of failing to guard its borders as 12 Iranian guards were killed in Sistan-Balouchestan province and the assailants fled into Pakistan, Mehr News reported.
“Pakistan has no control over its borders (with Iran) and the hooligans are coming and going smoothly,” Deputy National Police Commander Ahmadreza Radan said on Thursday.
The servicemen came under fire at Mirjaveh border point as they were carrying special provisions for border outposts.
Radan said so far all efforts by Iran to regulate border crossings with Pakistan have produced no result.
He said if Pakistan is unable to counter the gangs it can allow Iran “to enter Pakistan’s soil and begin operations to exterminate” them.
The police commander added that whenever Iran gives the “address or the identities of the hooligans to Pakistani officials” they immediately change their location.
Last June, militants loyal to the Jundullah terror group kidnapped 15 Iranian policemen and later killed them.
Radan said it is not yet clear that those gangs who killed 12 border guards were connected to the Jundullah group.

The Sponge
India has become the "sponge" that was protecting the United States and the West from the terror campaign of Lashkar-e-Tayiba and is absorbing most of the blows unleashed by terrorist groups in Pakistan, the US Senate was told.
LeT, which has been blamed for the Mumbai attacks, remains a terrorist organisation of genuinely global reach and represents a threat to regional and global security, second only to Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda, according to strategic expert and an influential policy advisor Ashley J Tellis.
Tellis, a Senior Associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, made these remarks while testifying before the Senate committee on homeland security and governmental affairs on Wednesday on the November 26 terrorist attacks in Mumbai and their consequences for the US.
"India has unfortunately become the sponge that protects us all. India's very proximity to Pakistan, which has developed into the epicenter of global terrorism during the last 30 years, has resulted in New Delhi absorbing most of the blows unleashed by those terrorist groups that treat it as a common enemy along with Israel, the United States, and the West more generally," he said.
Tellis said the Barack Obama administration should keep Pakistan's feet to the fire and ensure that Islamabad makes good on its promises to take on terrorist groups.
Washington should also demand more of Islamabad precisely because the LeT threatens to become a significant global terrorist threat, he said, adding, the US should insist that Islamabad roll up and eliminate the entire LeT infrastructure of terrorism that currently exists inside of Pakistan.
Tellis also termed India's response to the Mumbai attack as inadequate and suggested that New Delhi should set up a body on the lines of America's national counter-terrorism centre and take US help.
Tellis said since the launch of the global war on terror post 9/11, Inter-Services Intelligence's assistance to LeT has become more recessed but it has by no means ended, even though the organisation was formally banned by then Pakistans president Pervez Musharraf on January 12, 2002.
Throwing light on LeT's links with Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence, Tellis said the terror group has received strong financial, material, and operational support from Pakistan's powerful spy agency -- including from its field stations in Nepal, Sri Lanka , and Bangladesh -- because of the growing conviction within the Pakistan military that the war against India could never be won if the hostilities were to be confined only to Jammu and Kashmir issue .
While India has occupied the lion's share of LeT attention in recent years, he said the organisation has not by any means restricted itself to keeping only India in its sights, he said.
LeT was from the very beginning a preferred ward of the ISI, enjoying all the protection offered by the Pakistani state, he added. Even when Pakistan, under considerable US pressure, formally banned LeT as a terrorist organization in 2002, the LeT leadership remained impregnable and impervious to all international political pressure, Tellis said.
Tellis said it would be a gross error to treat the terrorism facing India, including the terrible recent atrocities as simply a problem for New Delhi alone.
In a very real sense, the outrage in Mumbai was fundamentally a species of global terrorism not merely because the assailants happened to believe in an obscurantist brand of Islam but, more importantly, because killing Indians turned out to be simply interchangeable with killing citizens of some 15 different nationalities for no apparent reason whatsoever, he added.

Terrorists are 'animals': SC judge
A senior judge of the Supreme Court on Tuesday likened terrorists killing innocent people to "animals" and said they cannot be allowed to take benefit of human
rights.
"Those who violate the rights of society and have no respect for human rights cannot be a human," Justice Arijit Pasayat said at a seminar on terrorism here.
"We should not talk about human rights violation of terrorists because terrorists are the people who kill innocent people with AK-47 and AK-56," he said, adding that "those who killed innocent people by no stretch of imagination are human beings. They are worth not more than animals."
Pasayat stressed the need for effective implementation of the new terror law and said that "investigators and prosecutors should be trained properly in this regard".
He said cases relating to terror attacks should be taken on priority basis as "it is the object of the Act".
Solicitor General G E Vahanvati while referring to the November 26 terror attacks in Mumbai said as a lawyer it would have been difficult for him to defend lone surviving terrorist Amir Ajmal Kasab.
"If I would have been asked to defend Kasab, probably I would have refused," Vahanvati, who hails from Mumbai, said.
The solicitor general said he could not defend a person against his conviction.
"If I go and defend a person against my conviction it would be unfair," he said.

Absolutely RIGHT.Nothing more to add..May be he should have avoided comparing terrorists to animals.Animals have done nothing wrong to be compared to terrorists..!
Foods That Lower Cholesterol
Everybody knows that ice cream, butter and meats increase cholesterol. Not eating such items is good. However, at times, because of wrong guidance, we stop eating even those food items that are beneficial for us. Do you know that there are ample of foods that can offer you a tasty and low-cholesterol diet? Some of the ‘functional foods’ have been proved to influence your cholesterol levels and they are found to be much better and quicker than those tablets, for reducing cholesterol.
Foods & Diets that Help Lower Cholesterol
* Have a breakfast rich in fiber like oatmeal, wholegrain muffins, fruit etc. Read the nutrition labels given on the cereal box to select one with five grams or more fiber per serving. Including Oat bran and rice bran in your diet would be effective too.
* Prefer taking whole grains such as wholegrain breads, muffins, waffles and pancakes.
* Start eating legumes (beans), in any way, three times a week. You can bring variation by trying bean soup, cold bean salad, sandwiches and black bean dip in snacks.
* Include soy protein in your diet. You can take soya milk, tofu and textured soy protein too.
* On a daily basis, have five servings of fruits and vegetables. One could be at breakfast, another at lunch, one in the evening, one before dinner and one at dinner, in the form of a cooked vegetable.
* Instead of juice, prefer eating whole fruit (including skin). Juice is the fiber-less form of fruit.
* Incorporate garlic in your food, in whatever form. Both cooked and raw garlic have compounds which help in lowering production of cholesterol by your liver.
* Raw onion, salmon, olive oil, almonds, walnuts and avocados, are also good to lower cholesterol.
* Have ample of foods which contain the natural antioxidants - Vitamins C and E, like red and green peppers, cantaloupe, sunflower seeds, strawberries, papaya, peanuts, oranges, grapefruit juice, wheat germ, soybeans, broccoli, brussel sprouts, wheat germ oil and soybean oil.
* A tad of wine or beer can also help reduce cholesterol levels. Heavy drinking can worsen the situation, but drinking a little, once in a week, is fine.
* Green leafy vegetables and green salads should make an essential part of your daily menu.
* If you want to eat non-veg, prefer taking lean meats and chicken (which provide you with Vitamin B6 and B12).

It's hight time we amend laws and make rape an act deserving death sentence.
Severe punishment only can act as a deterrent against such henious crimes.
In the particular rape case mentioned above,it's a foreign tourist who is
raped. It's such a shame.Where is our culture of treating our guests like God.
It's sad that there are such sadists amongst us.
More that any thing our Country's image is taking a beating by these type of incidents, inaddition to spoiling the life of an innocent lady. It's the duty of all citizens to uphold the dignity of Indian women and those of our honoured guests.

Some random thoughts on our 60th Republic Day...
Today is our Beloved Country's 60th Republic Day.
Today is also the first instance when our PM could not physically be present for the Republic Day ceremony. He could only watch on the Television, since he is recuperating from his heart surgery.
Defence Minister A.K.Antony led the Nation in paying tribute at the Amar Jawan Jyothi. It would have been a very proud moment for him,as also to all Malayalees and ofcourse all Indians.I said Malayalees, because if I am not wrong,he is the first person from Kerala who has got such an honour. Some people might have thought that Antony being a member from a Minority community would have given a message of how strong our secular credentials are. What's the big deal. For me,I don't care whether he is from a minority or from a majority community, for me he is an Indian, that's it.For me Antony is a simple,humble,non-corrupt and a good person and a man of integrity and I always respect him for that.
I don't know whether I can say such good words about his reign as the Defence Minister.May be he has done a reasonably good job,but we still do read articles about Army vehicles being old,not enough good equipment etc.May it's a collective failure, not a failure of him alone. All,everybody who has the power and who could make a difference should ponder and contribute.Contribute to make our country stronger and stronger, greater and greater.
I always wonder why the salary for security forces are not the highest. It's they who risk their lives every day and clean up the mess and protect us when incidents like the Mumbai terror attack happens.
The Army's motto itself is
"
The safety, honour and welfare of your country, come first, always and everytime. The honour, welfare and comfort of the men you command comes next. Your own ease, comfort and safety comes last, always and every time.
"
So when they are ever ready to sacrifice for the welfare of the Country,it's obvious that our Jawans should be taken care of very very well. They should be respected, their family members should be respected. If a Jawan dies we should always take care of his family, especially if his family is poor.
Today during the Republic Day ceremony at the Rajpath, when you watch widows of great martyrs receiving Ashoka Chakra,we do feel proud and sorry.Year after year, every moment our forces are risking their lives and fighting for our Country. We should really be proud of them. But then we should think how many more widows we will create.why can't we take some far reaching policy initiatives which could eradicate the threat perceptions for our Nation and there by reduce the casualities that we are suffering from terrorism.
We are a Nation, who always REACT.We don't ACT in the first place. We only react, some times not even that.We just make some noices, that's it.It's worth pondering, why we can't prevent attacks on us.It's said that 'prevention is better than cure'.We are not even at the 'cure' mode.We express shock, dismay, anger, solidarity and then finally forget and move on.Sure we need to move on,but we should never forgive our enemies. In our case,we know clearly who our enemy is,we know the evil intentions of our enemy,we know we will be attacked repeatedly through more terror attacks,we know we cannot rely on outside powers to help us,we know that we cannot keep on tolerating such attacks.Still, still it seems we have not understood the magnitude of the serious situation we are facing. We still do politics on terror attacks. We still continue to sleep,we still have that 'devil-may-care' attitude..
It's as if we have acquired a sort of immunity against terror attacks.May be since we think we don't have any option to prevent these terror attacks,we have made an unconscious decision of wearing down the terrorists..!!
If the terror masterminds find that we are not at all affected by the continuing terror attacks, may be they will one day wind up their operations. Is this our policy??
Atleast we should value the Life of fellow Indians who are getting killed in these terror attacks.Surely,we need to have a solid policy,we need all our experts and decision-makers to sit and brainstorm about all possible options to destroy and neutralize the threat.Surely we need to unite.Surely we need to understand that we are at war.when the enemy has declared an un-declared proxy-war and is continuing to attack us and is continuing to creat and support all sorts of terror organizations and is continuing to plan more attacks,we surely are in a war even if we are not aware of it.
Now coming back to the Republic day parade, well,as usual it showed our unity in diversity and our military might.
But then unless we show to the whole world that we are not weak, that we are not a Nation that is a sitting duck against terrorism from a country which is not even half our size, all these display of might at the Republic Day Parade will count for nothing...
We are a strong Nation,We are a Great Nation,We are a Proud Nation.High time we show our might and start behaving like a self-respecting Nation. We believe we have won lot of brownie points by showing almighty RESTRAINT in the face of grave provocations. We believe the world community is sympathetic to us.
To hell with their sympathy. We don't need sympathy or expression of shock each time our innocent citizens are killed by terrorists of our enemy.
We need to defend our country.Defence cannot be outsourced. We need to explore all options to ensure safety of our Country. This doesn't mean that we go for an out and out war.Well, there are many many options, well documented options, suggested by various experts, available for the government,to tame the enemy.
Let's make a start..
India has no better friend than the US
Greeting India on the occasion of the country's 60th Republic Day, US President Barack Obama said Indians have no better friend and partner than the people of the United States.
"As the Indian people celebrate Republic Day all across India, they should know that they have no better friend and partner than the people of the United States," Obama said.
Obama, who calls India as a natural ally of the US and seeks inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi , in a message said: "It is our shared values that form the bedrock of a robust relationship across peoples and governments. Those values and ideals provide the strength that enables us to meet any challenge, particularly from those who use violence to try to undermine our free and open societies."
As Indians and people of Indian origin in the US and around the world celebrate Republic Day on January 26, Obama said: "I send the warmest greetings of the American people to the people of India. Together, we celebrate our shared belief in democracy, liberty, pluralism, and religious tolerance."
Referring to the new bonhomie of relationships between India and the US in the last one decade, the US President said the two nations have built broad and vibrant partnerships in every field of human endeavour.
"Our rapidly growing and deepening friendship with India offers benefits to all the world's citizens as our scientists solve environmental challenges together, our doctors discover new medicines, our engineers advance our societies, our entrepreneurs generate prosperity, our educators lay the foundation for our future generations, and our governments work together to advance peace, prosperity, and stability around the globe," he said.

K C Verma likely to be new R&AW chief
K C Verma, currently advisor on security issues to Home Minister P Chidambaram , is likely to be appointed as the next chief of the Research and Analysis Wing, also known as Secretary (R).
The development comes as a surprise, as it was earlier believed that the competition to head India's external intelligence agency after its current chief Ashok Chaturvedi retires on January 30 was between P V Kumar, the senior-most officer of the organisation after Chaturvedi, and Sanjeev Tripathi, another senior officer.
K C Verma is a 1971 batch IPS officer. Throughout his career, Verma served the country's internal intelligence agency (Intelligence Bureau). However, he is also a heart patient and not keeping perfect health.

A heart patient who is not in good health is going to be appointed to head India's spy agency..mmmmm
What's the government trying to achieve?
At a time when India desperately needs a vibrant, energetic, young and visionary leader to head RAW,government plays out this joke.India needs solid intelligence to root out and prevent further terror attacks, for this RAW should be more powerful. For this an ailing man at the top won't be of any help,surely...
Any way, let's hope for the best. What else to do...!!

Raj Thackeray is back after making sure of his safety
Ending a long break, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray has resumed his virulent campaign against North Indians describing Uttar Pradesh as a 'den of terrorism' and accusing the state's Chief Minister Mayawati and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad of doing caste politics.
Defying Maharashtra government's order asking him not to make provocative speeches, Raj, addressing a rally in Thane, spewed venom against North Indians justified his agitation against them who he said encroached on job prospects of locals in Maharashtra.
He said it would not be possible for him to abide by the government's gag order and he cannot be a 'mute spectator when interests of Maharashtra are at stake'.
"Let the government do whatever it wants. I will not watch things and will express my views. I cannot be a mute spectator," Raj said.
Alleging Uttar Pradesh was a den of terrorism in the country, Raj pointed to 'criminals hailing from Azamgarh and Jaunpur'.
Several criminals from UP were arrested in Maharashtra in arms sale cases, he said.
Raj also alleged irregularities in issuance of driving licence by transport authorities.
Raj singled out those from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, saying the word 'north Indians' should not be loosely used as states like Punjab, Haryana and Kashmir were also part of north India.
He said there was nothing like 'Uttar Pradesh Day' even in UP and "leaders from these places use the occasion to show their strength".
Raj recalled a speech in Parliament by late Indira Gandhi in 1972 where she said "one has to see that local people are not deprived of employment".
The MNS chief charged Mayawati, BSP supremo and Lalu Prasad, RJD chief, with indulging in casteist politics.
He also came down heavily on "spineless" politicians from Maharashtra who remained "mute spectators when leaders from UP and Bihar unitedly launched an offensive against the state, within and outside Parliament".
The MNS chief also dwelt on Maharashtra-Karnataka border issue.
"If Karunanidhi can threaten to withdraw support to UPA government over injustices against Tamils in Sri Lanka , what are spineless politicians from Maharashrtra doing on the border row," he said.
"I am ready to go to jail again and again in the interests of Marathi people," Raj said, adding when he was arrested in October, he knew beforehand that his arrest was imminent.
Raj also came down heavily on Hindi and English TV channels, accusing them of distorting his speeches by wrong translation.
"These channels made a farce out of the 26/11 attack coverage and are spreading falsehood," he alleged.
Raj was greeted by his supporters with a typical Nazi-like salute when he arrived on the stage for the rally.
He began his speech by asking the crowd to observe a minute's silence in memory of policemen killed in 26/11 terror attacks.

This man is back and has started barking again, big time.Baw..Baw..Back after making sure that he is safe to come out with his lunatic statements.During the Mumbai attack and for a month after it,it seems he was hiding inside his kitchen store room or in his bathroom with fear, making sure that all the 26/11 terrorists who attacked Mumbai were dead.May be he went into hiding after hearing the initial reports that there were still terrorists at large in Mumbai.During the Mumbai terror attack, when all Indians(north, south, east, west) of the Army,NSG and other security agencies were engaged in securing Mumbai and were ready to lay down their lives as supreme sacrifice to the Nation, this guy was so terrified and might have been passing urine continuously because of fear.He did not open his mouth even for taking food because of fear.(well,he deserves more stronger words, because he is making the work of anti-India forces more easy by dividing Indians instead of uniting the whole of India.).
He now says Uttar Pradesh is 'den of terrorism'...!!
Please..Let's all laugh..Surely this is an attempted joke...haha..hihi..
The whole of India was thinking that all Indians consider pakistan as the 'den of terrorism'..
But this new Thackeray thinks other wise.
We should all feel sorry for his wife and family.
He has reached the most compex stage of mental disorder and should be given shock treatment day in and day out in a lunatic asylum..!!

Or better a trip to pakistan could help the poor man(but then he could die of fear..).

Britian's new terror policy
The British Foreign Office on Thursday said Foreign Secretary David Miliband’s remarks on Kashmir, which infuriated the Indian government, were “fully consistent” with Britain’s stated view that any conflict likely to be exploited by terrorists to “kill and maim” innocent people must be resolved quickly.
Sources told The Hindu that Mr. Miliband had not been “off-message,” nor did he deviate from the government line while calling upon India to resolve the Kashmir dispute urgently in order to blunt the edge of Pakistan-based terrorists.
This contradicts the perception in New Delhi that Mr. Miliband made the remarks off his own bat. When the External Affairs Ministry first protested, its spokesman Vishnu Prakash said Mr. Miliband’s views were “clearly his own and are evolving.”
“Mr. Miliband is entitled to his views, which are clearly his own and are evolving. We do not need unsolicited advice on the internal issues of India like Jammu and Kashmir,” Mr. Prakash said.
But the British Foreign Office sources are keen to emphasise that Mr. Miliband was simply articulating the British government’s official line.
“No, the Foreign Secretary was not off-message at all. It has always been our view that where there is conflict that could play into the hands of terrorists it is important to resolve it in order to deny them a pretext to perpetrate any atrocity. It is in this context that he emphasised the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue,” one official said.
The sources also expressed surprise at New Delhi’s strong reaction, claiming that India was aware of the British position as it had come up “frequently” in discussions with the Indian government.
“Mr. Miliband’s remarks have been misinterpreted and blown out of all proportions,” they said.
They argued that his comments must be seen in the context of the Laskhar-e-Taiba’s “narrative” that its violent activities were part of its “struggle” to “liberate” Kashmir.
“What he meant was that once you resolve Kashmir, the LeT would be deprived of that narrative. But so long as the Kashmir issue remains it would continue to provide ammunition to terrorists,” one source familiar with India-Pakistan relations said.
Mr. Miliband sparked a diplomatic row when, writing in The Guardian on the eve of his recent visit to India, he called for New Delhi to settle the Kashmir issue as a way of dealing with cross-border terrorism.
“Although I understand the current difficulties, resolution of the dispute over Kashmir would help deny extremists in the region one of their main calls to arms, and allow Pakistani authorities to focus more effectively on tackling the threat on their western borders,” he wrote.
Natasha Khan, a Foreign Office spokesperson, said normalisation of India-Pakistan relations was “vital to regional security” and the British government continued to urge both countries to seek a “lasting resolution of the issue of Kashmir which takes into account the wishes of the Kashmiri people.”
However, it was not for the U.K. government to prescribe a solution and it was for the parties directly involved to decide how best to resolve it, she added.
Meanwhile, there was concern that the row sparked by Mr. Miliband’s remarks and the way he conducted himself during his visit might have “damaged” India-U.K. relations.
William Hague, shadow foreign secretary, said: “Good relations with India are very important to Britain and must be handled with care and consistency. If David Miliband’s comments caused a diplomatic storm in Delhi, then those relations will have been damaged by his visit.”
The Foreign Office said India and the U.K. enjoyed a “very strong strategic partnership” which covered a very broad agenda.
“We are confident that the common interests we share and our strong relationship will continue,” it said.

From now if there is any terrorist attack in Britian, that country should not complaint or arrest or kill those involved in the attack. They should first check with the terrorists involved in the attack and note down point by point their viewpoints.British Foreign Secretary David Miliband should hold talks with them and solve their issues to the satisfaction of the terrorists.
Say ,if Al-Qeda says, they want osama to be appointed Prime Minister of Britian,Britian should readily accept. This will mean that the terror outfit will not have any further issue with Britian. Now if another terror group wants London to be part of pakistan,Britian should be thrilled and that demand should be wholeheartedly accepted.Because this will stop further attacks in Britian. This will be “fully consistent” with Britain’s stated view that any conflict likely to be exploited by terrorists to “kill and maim” innocent people must be resolved quickly.
By this way Britian will show to the world that they are setting an example. This will also show to the world that people like Miliband are not only good at uttering non-sense,they can also practise it themselves.

US President Barack Hussein Obama's Inagural speech
My fellow citizens:
I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.
Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often, the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because We the People have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebearers, and true to our founding documents.
So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans.
That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.
These are the indicators of crisis, subject to data and statistics. Less measurable but no less profound is a sapping of confidence across our land -- a nagging fear that America's decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights.
Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America: They will be met.
On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.
On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.
We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.
In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of shortcuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the fainthearted -- for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things -- some celebrated, but more often men and women obscure in their labor -- who have carried us up the long, rugged path toward prosperity and freedom.
For us, they packed up their few worldly possessions and traveled across oceans in search of a new life.
For us, they toiled in sweatshops and settled the West; endured the lash of the whip and plowed the hard earth.
For us, they fought and died, in places like Concord and Gettysburg; Normandy and Khe Sahn.
Time and again, these men and women struggled and sacrificed and worked till their hands were raw so that we might live a better life. They saw America as bigger than the sum of our individual ambitions; greater than all the differences of birth or wealth or faction.
This is the journey we continue today. We remain the most prosperous, powerful nation on Earth. Our workers are no less productive than when this crisis began. Our minds are no less inventive, our goods and services no less needed than they were last week or last month or last year. Our capacity remains undiminished. But our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions -- that time has surely passed. Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America.
For everywhere we look, there is work to be done. The state of the economy calls for action, bold and swift, and we will act -- not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth. We will build the roads and bridges, the electric grids and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together. We will restore science to its rightful place, and wield technology's wonders to raise health care's quality and lower its cost. We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories. And we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age. All this we can do. And all this we will do.
Now, there are some who question the scale of our ambitions -- who suggest that our system cannot tolerate too many big plans. Their memories are short. For they have forgotten what this country has already done; what free men and women can achieve when imagination is joined to common purpose, and necessity to courage.
What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them -- that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply. The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works -- whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end. And those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account -- to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day -- because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government.
Nor is the question before us whether the market is a force for good or ill. Its power to generate wealth and expand freedom is unmatched, but this crisis has reminded us that without a watchful eye, the market can spin out of control -- and that a nation cannot prosper long when it favors only the prosperous. The success of our economy has always depended not just on the size of our gross domestic product, but on the reach of our prosperity; on our ability to extend opportunity to every willing heart -- not out of charity, but because it is the surest route to our common good.
As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals. Our Founding Fathers, faced with perils we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations. Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience's sake. And so to all other peoples and governments who are watching today, from the grandest capitals to the small village where my father was born: Know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity, and that we are ready to lead once more.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
We are the keepers of this legacy. Guided by these principles once more, we can meet those new threats that demand even greater effort -- even greater cooperation and understanding between nations. We will begin to responsibly leave Iraq to its people, and forge a hard-earned peace in Afghanistan. With old friends and former foes, we will work tirelessly to lessen the nuclear threat, and roll back the specter of a warming planet. We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you.
For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus -- and nonbelievers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.
To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect. To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West: Know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist.
To the people of poor nations, we pledge to work alongside you to make your farms flourish and let clean waters flow; to nourish starved bodies and feed hungry minds. And to those nations like ours that enjoy relative plenty, we say we can no longer afford indifference to suffering outside our borders; nor can we consume the world's resources without regard to effect. For the world has changed, and we must change with it.
As we consider the road that unfolds before us, we remember with humble gratitude those brave Americans who, at this very hour, patrol far-off deserts and distant mountains. They have something to tell us today, just as the fallen heroes who lie in Arlington whisper through the ages. We honor them not only because they are guardians of our liberty, but because they embody the spirit of service; a willingness to find meaning in something greater than themselves. And yet, at this moment -- a moment that will define a generation -- it is precisely this spirit that must inhabit us all.
For as much as government can do and must do, it is ultimately the faith and determination of the American people upon which this nation relies. It is the kindness to take in a stranger when the levees break, the selflessness of workers who would rather cut their hours than see a friend lose their job which sees us through our darkest hours. It is the firefighter's courage to storm a stairway filled with smoke, but also a parent's willingness to nurture a child, that finally decides our fate.
Our challenges may be new. The instruments with which we meet them may be new. But those values upon which our success depends -- hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism -- these things are old. These things are true. They have been the quiet force of progress throughout our history. What is demanded then is a return to these truths. What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility -- a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation and the world; duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character, than giving our all to a difficult task.
This is the price and the promise of citizenship.
This is the source of our confidence -- the knowledge that God calls on us to shape an uncertain destiny.
This is the meaning of our liberty and our creed -- why men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across this magnificent Mall, and why a man whose father less than 60 years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath.
So let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have traveled. In the year of America's birth, in the coldest of months, a small band of patriots huddled by dying campfires on the shores of an icy river. The capital was abandoned. The enemy was advancing. The snow was stained with blood. At a moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people:
"Let it be told to the future world ... that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive... that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet [it]."
America. In the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested, we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back, nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.
I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.

High Expectations:Obama Sworn-in
Knowingly or unknowingly Barack Obama has raised the expectations of not only the Americans, but also of the whole world to such unimaginable heights that it's difficult to comprehend how he is going to fulfill atleast a part of what is expected of him.He has chanted the word 'Change' as a mantra day in and day out.Hope people give him a reasonable period before judging him.
Today is the D-day.Few moments, before I typed this,he was sworn-in as the president of America. His inagural speech was great and full of energy.
But then it's time for action from now onwards, not words.
And,as for we Indians, let's hope his policies will be good for India and to the rest of the world.
Wishing him all the best in the most difficult and powerful job in the world.

Border disputes inside India..!!
At a time when its ally Shiv Sena has gone on the offensive over the vexed Maharashtra-Karnataka boundary row, Maharashtra BJP on Tuesday said it favours merger of the Marathi-speaking areas of Karnataka with the State.
"It is the unequivocal stance of state BJP that Maharashtra should get Marathi-speaking areas on the border," a resolution passed at a meeting of state BJP executive said.
"The issue is before the Supreme Court. Maharashtra's side needs to be projected strongly," the resolution said.
"It has been 50 years since Maharashtra was formed, but the border issue has not been resolved. Despite Congress being in power at the state and the Centre for most of this period, there has been no resolution of the dispute," it said.
BJP actively supports the struggle of Marathi-speaking people in (Karnataka's) border areas, the resolution said.
The nine-day session of the Karnataka Legislature, commenced at Belgaum on January 16, in the backdrop of protests from the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES). MES is seeking merger of 856 villages and towns including Belgaum, Karwar and Nippani, with Maharashtra.
Karnataka has been rejecting Maharashtra's claim over the Marathi-speaking areas. The boundary dispute has led to violent protests in the state since last week, leading to disruption of State transport services between the two states.

What's going on?Really saddd....Why do we blame pakistan..We ourselves are fighting with each other over 'so-called border dispute'.What is the issue if there are Marathi people in Karnataka or Kannadigas in Maharastra?Does that mean land has to be belong to this state or that state?? Can't we think beyond state boundaries??Why is state boundaries so relevant? Can't we think of ourselves only as Indians? When we will we learn to be united.Such divisive and petty politics and those who indulge in such nefarious activities should be dealt with severly...!!

A noble deed
Rifleman Vijay Singh, a young soldier, managed to save three lives and give vision to two visually-challenged persons even after his death.
Singh, who suffered severe head injuries in a road accident, was declared brain dead.
One Monday, Singh's liver was transplanted to a 15-year old boy suffering from advanced liver cirrhosis and one of his kidney donated to mother of a serving soldier, suffering from last stage of renal failure and the other kidney was handed over to the Organ Retrieval and Banking Organisation (ORBO) for transplantation at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
After the multiple organ donation by a radiologist family on Jan 7, 2009, this was another multiple organ donation at "Armed Forces Organ Retrieval and Transplantation Authority (AORTA)."
AORTA is an organization based at Army Hospital Delhi that handles all activities related to organ donation in armed forces and the total number of organ donations has now risen up to 17, since its inception in April 2007.

Nothing more worthwhile than such deeds. The humaness shown by his family is really touching.
May his soul rest in peace..

TCS to freeze lateral hiring, reduce pay hike
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the country’s largest IT services provider, has plans to freeze its lateral hiring, or recruitment of experienced hands. The company, which expects to take a final call on its hiring strategy next month, also says the next year’s salary hike would be in single digit per cent range.
TCS, however, has assured it will honour its commitment on hiring 24,800 people during financial year 2009-10.
Ajoy Mukherjee, vice-president and head-global human resources, TCS, said: “We have almost frozen our lateral hiring. We have been very controlled about the numbers that we take from here. The focus is on trainees as from cost management perspective this will balance out.” He said that surprises are coming on a daily basis and one should be prepared for it.
Last quarter, the company had spoken about a hiring mix of 60:40 for trainees and laterals respectively.
For 2009-10, TCS has already made campus offers of 24,800 and the company says that it will honour all the commitments. For FY09, the company has a target of hiring 30,000-35,000, of which 30,430 are already on board. “Campus hiring is done at least a year in advance and we were not expecting the situation to be this bad,” he adds.
“It’s a business environment that is making the company look at such measures. But this will certainly help it manage cost as unlike its peers TCS did hire a lot of experienced people. But that is also because it has a higher component of R&D work. Two, we think it will help the company garner a good position in terms of credibility and branding in the long run,” said an analyst.
Meanwhile, the company is focusing on the bottom of the pyramid. Mukherjee says: “While I am not saying that we will not hire experienced people but it will be based more on domain expertise and business need. Besides, for off-campus recruitment, which we did in the fourth quarter to fill on gaps due to attrition, is also clearly ruled out this year. The other focus area also is shift from onsite to offshore.”
Of the total employee base of the company, about 20 per cent are onsite. However, so far almost one per cent people have returned offshore. The company has also agreed that the joining dates of trainees have been staggered by a few days.

Already promotions are on hold in TCS.Looking at the current global scenario and with scandals like what happened in Satyam, this difficult period could be a prolonged one.Let's hope it gets reversed very quickly..

Deve Gowda sees strong possibility of a Third Front Govt
Expressing strong probability of formation of a Third Front government after the forthcoming general elections, Janta Dal (S) chief H D Deve Gowda today said economic matters will be the main issue in them.
In a media interview, Gowda claimed the Front's probability of winning has increased as Left parties, JD (S), AIADMK, Telegu Desam Party (TDP) and Telengana Rastra Samiti (TRS) have united.
He said that the Front will go to the polls with all major issues and talks are on to form an electoral tie-up.
He claimed the JD(S) chances in LS seats in Karnataka have improved after "bad" governance of the BJP government in place and added that the party had won three out of the eight assembly seats in the by-polls there.
Gowda said his party at a rally in Koppal, had asked all political parties to raise the issue of reservation for minorities and dalit Muslims in politics, jobs and education.
He said the Third Front will raise this issue strongly in the next elections.
The JD(S) chief alleged that the economic policies started by the BJP-led NDA government were being continued by the Congress-led government and it has resulted in a few industrial houses becoming richer and the poor becoming poorer.
Gowda alleged that suicides by farmers and slowdown in the agriculture sector, which started during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government time, has not stopped in the present Manmohan Singh regime.
He said economic matter would be the main issue of the Front in the elections.
On the Third Front's tie-up with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Deve Gowda said CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat had initiated talks with BSP and good results were expected soon.
Asked if JD(S) was planning to field its candidates outside Karnataka, Deve Gowda said that it will happen only if the candidate has a strong possibility of winning.
Courtest Zeenews.
Gowda might be dreaming that the Third front will win the next election and he himself can be the Prime Minister. And as what happened when he was PM,he can sit in important official functions and sleep...!!
Any way it's a nice dream to have,a dream of becoming PM.But it will be just that.A dream.
Era of The Great ARRahman
First of all,I would like to talk a bit about ARRahman's latest album Delhi 6.But let me say that I am not writing a review. There are already lot of reviews available on the net.
But as a person who has heard the songs in the album,I do feel that everybody needs to hear the songs, else, well,it will be a great miss.So I strongly recommend and request every body to have a look at the album. It's in two words 'Simply Amazing'.I can say, for the sheer variety of the songs in the album,it's 'Out of the world'...
I am not exaggerating if I say,A R Rahman's Delhi 6 is an absolute treat to the ears,it's supreme. As always when you hear the songs first time around, you will feel,oh,he slightly missed his very high standards this time around. But then when you hear the songs again,it just starts to grow on you and you want to hear the songs more and more. And each time,it's just pure magic, pure thrill. You will feel that here is a Music wizard at work,a master at work, doing ever so effortlessly what he does best.An absoute Genius who is toying with various combinations of sound, resulting in unbelievable ecstasy...
I have all the songs in my mobile and hears it whenever I can.Even after hearing it many times, each time you will feel some thing new.I suppose that's the case with all Rahman songs. There is some sort of a Divine Aura about his songs..
Among Music composers, there is Rahman, and then the rest.
Rahman's meteoric rise from the south Indian film music industry to bollywood and to the world over is an extraordinary fairytale .But it only speaks of his singe-minded dedication, hardwork, humility, versatality and innovativeness.Ever since his arrival with Roja he has revolutionised music,he has stormed the Industry. He has been the undisputed King of Indian Music from his first album onwards, which won the National Award. He has amazingly kept up the very high standards he set for himself in Roja, all through these years and has lived upto the expectations of his billions of fans. But then that's why the TIME Magazine called him 'The Mozart from Madras'.
He stands out from the other music directors, with his distinct style and immense grasp of the nuances of music.
When you hear a song, most of the time, you could instantly recognize if it's an ARRahman song. His style is soo unique and so energetic.
One cannot imagine what would have been the health of Indian Film music,if there was no Rahman. With his arrival only, music directors and indeed film directors started taking film music seriously,I mean music of a different kind. Not far in near future,Indian Film music will be categorised as pre-Rahman and post-Rahman era.It won't be too much if it's said that ARRahman's reign will called one of the Golden Periods of Indian Music.
After reading what I wrote above,if you think I have gone way over the top in heaping praise on Rahman, then I hope by now you would have recognized that I am one of the biggest fans of India's undisputed Music Composer,ARRAhman,The Legend.
I like him as a musician and I like him as a person, even though I have never met him.But what ever I have read and watched about him on TV,have given me an image about him which is truly Great.I have always admired his humble nature and the truthful nature in which he conducts himself during interviews and in public places. There is an aura about him that is so very soothing and charismatic. His face always give the impression of a Person who is very calm and serene and at peace with himself. He is sooo original and down to earth in the true sense of the word.
I also like his voice,it's haunting and sharp. He knows what sort of songs he can sing and chooses them so meticulously and renders them effortlessly.
ARRahman is a National Icon,no doubt about it.The joy he brings to all Indians and the pride we Indians feel by the laurels he is bringing to the Country are unmatched.
He is a staunch nationalist too,his patriotic songs are truly inspiring and everlasting.songs in Roja,Lagaan,The Legend Of Bhagat Singh etc to site a few instances. His album on the National Anthem was just awesome..
One cannot forget his thanks-giving speech at the Golden Globe Award ceremony. When all others were busy thanking their friends and family,ARRahman was thanking the billions of Indians..
It just shows what an amazing individual he is .The whole of India should be really proud that he was born in India and that he is one amongst us.And I do feel lucky that I am living in the same period.Full Stop.
One of the most beautiful quote on ARRahman which I have come across is :
"I had come to the music of AR Rahman through the emotional and haunting score of 'Bombay' and the wit and celebration of 'Lagaan'. But the more of AR's music I encountered the more I was to be amazed at the sheer diversity of styles: from swinging brass bands to triumphant anthems; from joyous pop to West-End musicals ('Bombay Dreams'). Whatever the style, AR Rahman's music always possesses a profound sense of humanity and spirit, qualities that inspire me the most." Baz Luhrmann, noted Film Director, Sydney (Australia), 14-July-2005.
ARRAHMAN is 'A R R A H M A N'.A gift from GOD to INDIA.That's it.

British Foreign secretary links Mumbai terror to Kashmir
"Although I understand the current difficulties, resolution of the dispute over Kashmir would help deny extremists in the region one of their main calls to arms, and allow Pakistani authorities to focus more effectively on tackling the threat on their western borders," British Foreign Secretary Miliband wrote in British newspaper 'The Guardian' in an article published today.
Mr.Miliband should have been a minister in pakistani cabinet,he deserves it.Or may be pakistan can give the next award to him(Remember pakistan gave away it's 'some highest' award to America's Biden and Boucher in the last few weeks).
Miliband is the most desirable candidate for an award from pakistan because he thinks Mumbai attacks and other terrorists attacks are because of Kashmir..!!
May be the attacks in America on 9/11 and bomb blasts in UK also because of Kashmir, one can never say..!!! ;-D
So if Kashmir is given to pakistan (what else is the solution pakistan will agree to finally say there is no dispute),there will be heavenly peace in Afganistan, pakistan and ofcourse in India, according to what this guy Miliband...!!
hoooo...such a simple solution...This Miliband is a great visionary..really..The way he scientifically analyses world affairs is simply breathtaking..
And this great researcher thinks that if the so-called dispute over Kashmir is solved, pakistan can concentrate on it's western border..!!
You would have heard these same lines earlier, yes, that's right, these were lines Obama once uttered during his presidential campaign, which was slammed by all right thinking people all over the world. After that Obama has not uttered a word on that.Miliband just copy pasted those remarks.
Miliband had earlier said, that too on his current stay in India that "We do not believe the attacks were directed by Pakistani state".These lines too,you would have heard.Only a few days earlier the US ambassador to India told this to an Indian channel. When some Americans bark,he too seems to bark...!!
Any body who knows about the happenings in the Indian subcontinent would know how abysmal the knowledge of those who utter some thing like these are.
India has rightly slammed these silly rantings.
"Mr (David) Miliband is entitled to his views, which are clearly his own and are evolving," External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vishnu Prakash told reporters while commenting on the remarks which sought to link the so-called non-resolution of Kashmir issue to terrorism in India.
"We do not need unsolicited advice on the internal issues of India like Jammu and Kashmir," Prakash said.
Absolutely..Jammu and Kashmir is an internal matter,an integral part of India,a non-negotiable part of India.
Any body who knows the proclaimed objectives of LeT,the-pakistani-establishment-sponsored-terror-company which was behind the Mumbai and many other terror attacks in India, would NOT say that the attacks were because of Kashmir. And it's a joke if Miliband thinks and indeed,if Mr.Obama thinks that pakistan is sincerely interested in defeating taliban at it's western borders.
Mr.(Mili)Band should take some time to have an understanding of world affairs before further roaming around the world as a high ranking foreign affairs official of the British government.Else he will remain a 'Foolish Secretary' and, gradually, will be seen as a idiot by other nations.
He seems to be justfying the attacks on India.India should not allow individuals like him to come to India and utter non-sense.Let his stay in UK or else go to pakistan and utter more and more 'bull-shits'.Britian,of all countries, should not utter a single word on India pakistan problems, because it's Britian who initially created this mess by partitioning India...

Indian government should seriously consider stopping begging
It's shameful on the part of the Indian government to continue to beg to foreign governments.God knows why the British foreign minister David Miliband had to come all the way to India to say that "We do not believe the attacks were directed by Pakistani state".He could have very well said that in UK...!!
India now should stop receiving these tourists, who are on a pleasure trip to India and pakistan. So many so-called VVIPs from the US and UK and some other countries visited India recently. All of them don't believe what all of India believes, that pakistani establishment is directly involved in the Mumbai terror attack.
It's ironic that US government does not believe that pak agencies are involved in terror activities.US had first hand evidence and solid intelligence on Pak ISI's hand in the Indian embassy bombing in Kabul which killed more that 60 people. In fact it's the US government which gave India evidence to that effect..!
The sort of planning, training and the blatant manner in which the Mumbai terror attack was carried out absolutely points to involvement of pakistani agencies. This bit of information is not by Indian officials, this is from western intelligence officials.Still even the US ambassador to India says there is no involvement of pakistani establishment..!!Ok he is saying that there is no proof, but then what proof he has to say that there is no involvement of pakistani establishment..
So what's the point in India trying the diplomatic option (or to put it bluntly, why beg ??).
If we can't do our work,no one will respect us.We should not depend on others to do every thing for us.Especially if those"others" are countries like the US and UK.The whole terrorism scenario in the Indian subcontinent is a US creation, when they successfully pushed out the Soviets from Afganistan.
In case if the US and UK government wants to know why Indians think that there is pakistani complicity in the Mumbai attack, then they should look at the past. There are any number of instances.
Let them check the history of Kargil intrusion.Pakistan first said it's about freedom fighters from India, later they said it's about terrorists and pakistan has nothing to do with it.Later they admitted that the terrorists were from pakistan. When India provided proof that pakistani soldiers were among the infiltrators who occupied Indian territory in Kargil, pakistan again refused. They even refused to accept the dead bodies of their own soldiers.Later musharraf, the then pakistani army chief, when he became president distributed gallantry awards to pakistani soldiers who were part of Kargil intrusion and he even claimed pakistan succeeded in internationalizing the Kashmir issue through Kargil ..!!!
The international community always urges India to have dialogue with pakistan. The irony of Kargil is that it happened when the Indian Prime Minister was on his way to Lahore as part of a new peace initiative..!!!
When US asks India for restraint and urges dialogue,it can only be termed 'an utter non-sense joke",especially after their reaction to the Israeli response in Gaza and their ill-fated,illegal,unprovoked,catastrophic and unwanted attack on Iraq.
Again as far as evidence of pakistan's dubious record on terrorism is concerned,US should know it better than any other country. They have real time evidence of pakistan's double game with respect to taliban in Afganistan. No elaboration is needed here on it.
It was pakitan's national hero (may be all other countries should find another word or words to describe their own national heroes, because pakistani definition of national hero is different..!!)aqkhan,who ran an international black market of nuclear technology, which he acquired through the "science of theft".pakistan claimed that the government was unaware of his dealings even though he transferred huge machinery via charted flights to countries like Iran,Libya etc.Can any one believe this??
Talking of another piece of solid evidence of pakistan's ostrich like attitude to terror or their policy of using terror as state policy:-
It's a question the international community should ask themselves, why the terrorists' released, to taliban, by India in exchange of the passengers of the hijacked Indian Airlines flight were driven directly to pakistan from Afganistan, where they were released...!
One of them, mazood azar, started a terrorist organization, which is responsible for numerous terrorist activities in India. He lives a very comfortable life in pakistan, addresses rallies and media occasionally.THE QUESTION IS,WHY A TERRORIST INDIA HAD TO UNFORTUNATELY RELEASE IN AFGANISTAN MOVING AROUND SO FREELY RIGHT UNDER THE NOSE OF THE PAKISTANI GOVERNMENT IN PAKISTAN???Is it not the responsibility of pakistan to handover him to India,or at least arrest him?
After the Mumbai attack, pakistan at first claimed that he is under 'house' arrest. When India asked for his deportation, within less than 12 hours the same minister claimed that azar is untraceable...!!!
What, what more evidence one needs for duplicity ??
Even in case of ajmal kasab, who was caught during the Mumbai terror attack, pakistan tried it's best to deny he was a pakistani. When media in pakistan claimed that he was a pakistani and interviewed his father who admitted that kasab is his son, pakistani establishment swiftly took away kasab's parents to some undisclosed location(or they might have killed them, who knows),asked his villagers to stop talking to the media and again claimed that kasab is not in their database.
Ya sure, kasab won't be in their database, because he is in Indian custody,in Indian jail...
And only recently, they were forced to admit that he indeed is a pakistani, after they found that the evidence India have is very strong and irrefutable.
pakistan has always, always and always cheated, cheated and cheated India and the world whenever and wherever possible.
As for India ,as mentioned earlier,it's time to act.Not beg.Act does not mean war.
As G. Parthasarthy,Former envoy to Pakistan said"We need to build covert capabilities in Pakistan and mount psychological war.We should not shy away from political destabilisation and inflicting economic damage to Pakistan. The time has come for us to say that Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan is disputed."
This seems the only way.India should make pakistanis realise that India too can play. And play well at that.India should try and breakup pakistan by massively supporting Baloch nationalist movements and other such movements in pakistan.India should scrap the Indus water treaty.
India has played a fair game till now,and has failed miserably. It's time to pay back in the same coin. It's an unfortunate situation, but INDIA HAS NO OPTION.No option other than a Counter-proxy-war.
Let's cure this niggle for all time to come.Let's get it done and dusted.
All means to cure this 'pakistan disease' should be explored by India.India needs to do this for her very survival as a confident, vibrant and strong nation.

A R Rahman's Pleasant Gift To India
"Unbelievable..! I thought, I would not win, so anyways thanks to the almighty God for bringing me here... Danny Boyle, Fox pictures, all my musicians in Chennai, Mumbai,... and the billion people from India,"
This was A R Rahman,as humble as ever after winning the prestigious Golden Globe Award. He was very dignified, and with his traditional shyness and simplicity. It's absolutely thrilling for all of us,we Indians, that he is being recognized in a major way internationally. He is already a Legend in India, and it was only a matter of time that the world would also appreciate this rare gem.
Rahman is a national treasure and we should all be very very proud of him.
He won the Golden Globe Award for the original music score for the film 'Slumdog Millionaire' and by this he obviously became the first Indian to do so.He won the coveted prize for his music score 'Jai Ho' in the film.
A Mumbai underdog's rags-to-riches story, 'Slumdog Millionaire', swept all the four categories it was nominated for, winning the best director award for Boyle, the best music score for Rahman, best screenplay for Simon Beaufoy and also in the category of best drama.
Vijay Singh, CEO of Star Fox Studios, which is all set to release the film in India on January 23 said he spoke to Rahman soon after winning the Best Original Music score award for 'Jai Ho', penned by lyricist Gulzar.
"He (Rahman) told me that this is a gift for India," Singh said.
Last week on his birthday (January 6) before leaving for Los Angeles, Rahman told reporters via video conferencing from Chennai that he wanted to win the award for India.
"Personally for me, it would be surprising if I win. But, I want to win it for India," Rahman had said.
"It is a proud moment for all Indians. The film has won four awards--Best Picture, Director, Screenplay and Original Music score. The story touches the hearts of Indian film watchers. It is about hope, overcoming all odds and believing in your love," Singh said.
Bollywood singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan said, "Rahman is truly the king, the leader. He is one of the finest composers of this country. He has carried India's name on the global map and has achieved something which no one from this country could do. He deserves every award that exists."
Javed Akhtar: I'm thrilled, happy and proud, but not at all surprised. It's inevitable for a genius like Rahman to get international acclaim.
Gulzar: It's the horse that has won the race. The one riding the horse was Rahman. My lyrics for Jai Ho were just the lagaam (rein) for the horse. Rahman has always been a clutter-breaker. He broke the antara-mukhda-antara (stanza-intro-stanza) mould in Hindi film songs. Now he has broken into the international arena. I'm working with him on the new Mani Ratnam project Ravan. As always it's a pleasure. All I can say for Rahman is, Jai ho.
Amitabh Bachchan: Congratulations. A reward most deserving.
Abhishek Bachchan: What a glorious moment for him. He continues to make us proud. I'm very lucky to have worked with him in Yuva, Guru and Delhi 6. My congratulations to him.
Bappi Lahiri: It's a great honour for Bollywood. We're all proud of Rahman. God bless him.
Ashutosh Gowariker: Rahman and I have worked together in Lagaan and Swades. We're now doing What's Your Raashee. In one word he is fantastic! He's a trailblazer. I'm so very proud of him and too thrilled. And his speech at the Golden Globe ceremony was superb, short, sweet and full of gratitude for his fans. Wow! I'll exhale only when I meet him.
Shreya Ghosal: I'm extremely happy and thrilled to hear this. It's a huge achievement. I'm very proud of Rahman sir. This is just the beginning for him.
Farhan Akhtar: I'm very happy for him. The recognition is truly deserved. Congratulations to Rahman and Danny Boyle.
Vishal Bharadwaj: Things just won't stop here for Rahman. The genius shall now bring an Oscar for us.
Anand Raj Anand: He deserves it. He's the only music director who got opportunities to work with big banners and super talented directors. I wish him many many more achievements.
Sameer Anjaan: It's a proud moment for every Indian. I'm lucky to have worked with him. He deserves much more.
Himesh Reshammiya: He deserves it. He's my favourite.
Kunal Ganjawala: This is just the beginning of many more international awards to come for Rahman.
Music director Pritam said he was overjoyed to hear the news about Rahman's success. "Rahman is the best. He has made India proud," he added.
"Look at his compositions. From regional to typical Bollywood and Western, he has done it all. He is a master of all kinds of music. My best wishes to him for the Oscars." -- Vasundhara Das
Actor Jackie Shroff, expressing happiness after the film won the awards, said, "Rahman's win is special. India deserves to be on the top. Such an honour is never too late."
There were great reviews for Rahman's music for this film even before he won this award.
'Danny Boyle has upped the ante by hiring the great A R Rahman, the king of Bollywood music,' wrote Kenneth Turan in Los Angeles Times, 'to contribute one of his unmistakable propulsive scores.'
'The propulsive score, by Bollywood soundtrack auteur A R Rahman, is hip-hop fusion of a very up-to-date kind,' Kurt Loder announced on MTV.Com.
In Rolling Stone, Peter Travers wrote, 'The film is a visual wonder, propelled by A R Rahman's hip-hopping score and Chris Dickens' kinetic editing.'
Also read below what Rahman said before leaving for the award ceremony :
He spoke to Subhash K Jha (timesofindia) before he left for the Golden Globe.
I don't think any Indian musician has won the Golden Globe award?
That's good. I see it as an honour for India, not just for me. More to come, hopefully.
The Golden Globe is seen as a precursor to the Oscars.
Let's hope so. I've my fingers crossed. When a film and my music get acceptance, it's the equivalent of an Oscar for me. For the people of India to get an Oscar is a big thing. So for their sake more than mine I hope my song Jai ho and my music score in Slumdog Millionaire win the Oscar.
Freida Pinto says of the 4 GoldenGlobe Nominations for Slumdog Millionaire yours makes her the proudest.
That's really sweet of her. I was in LA to have lunch with all the panel members of the Oscars. Also, to do press meets and promotion for Slumdog Millionaire which is getting a terrific response in La.
You know some critics in the US say it's one of the best films they've ever seen. It's not just about my music. It's the way the director Danny Boyle has put together the film.
Please explain.
The throbbing pulse of Mumbai is superbly captured in the film. Slumdog Millionaire (SM) is about suffering, hope and redemption. If my music in SM has made an impact in the West it's because it's projected so effectively.
Though some of the songs are in Hindi nobody complained about them being boring or incomprehensible.
Jai ho, the song that has been nominated for the Golden Globe, O saya and Ringa ringa which is influenced by Choli ke peeche are in a foreign language for them. But the Americans love it.
Were you in the US to lobby for the Oscar for Jai ho?
It's not about lobbying. It's about letting the jury members meet you, get to know you and decide if the person behind the creation is worth putting a vote for. As an artiste I need to be recognized on a human level.
So I needed to go to Hollywood with my song Jai Ho. I met all the top Hollywood soundtrack composers like Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore and Danny Elfman.
And what did they have to say about your music?
They had a genuinely warm comments for my music in Slumdog Millionaire. At first I thought they were just being sweet and polite.
You know, LA is a kind of place where people in the entertainment industry say a lot of things they don't mean. So I double-checked. And these big guns in Hollywood really meant it.I think they love the Mumbai that they've seen in the film.
And Danny has made terrific use of my music. The way he has mixed my songs, they're full-on, like a discotheque.
Has Mumbai's image suffered a setback in the US after 26/11?
Everyone is a bit shaken. Security has been tightened even more in the US. That's what I was subjected to in every hotel that I went. Everyone has to be more careful. There's a little bit of negativity about what happened. But the way they look at India, our music and cinema is very positive.
You sound really upbeat.
The image of Mumbai is still intact. Slumdog Millionaire has promoted Mumbai tourism to a great extent. I don't think any city in the world has been portrayed as vibrantly as Mumbai. I got the right vibes in La.
A lot of people want to come to India to collaborate in our entertainment industry. Akon and Nelly Furtago are interested. We just have need carry it forward.
It was said you left suddenly for LA because of your dear friend's death?
I've to say the sudden death of my friend and my permanent sound recordist H. Sridhar (who died of a cardiac arrest on December 1) has been a big blow for me. He was a close friend and professional associate for twenty years.
He was not just a sound recordist but also a fantastic keyboards players. He revolutionalized song recording. Am I shattered? It's a personal and professional loss. But life goes on. It has to.
Yes,Life should go on and let's hope Rahman brings more glory to our Motherland.

Fall from grace of a KingMaker---Karat
When Prakash Karat takes the stage, clap — this was what the CPM told its cadre in Kochi.
With election prospects not too good in Kerala and Bengal, the party clearly didn’t want to take a chance at the rally that the party general secretary and chief ministers of both states addressed yesterday.
The instruction to applaud Karat wasn’t the only one handed to CPM workers by the state party unit. There was another — don’t drink.
“Every party wants its cadre to be disciplined. There is no need to read anything into it,” snapped a senior leader from the state.
Disciplined is what party workers weren’t in Kottayam last year, when drunken scenes marked the state conference. At the end of that meet, as Kerala chief minister V.S. Achuthanandan took the stage, the cadre went berserk with applause. Some of the exuberance came out of the bottle.
State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, who does not get along with Achuthanandan, later compared the meet to an “Usha Uthup musical”.
The party wouldn’t have wanted any one leader to walk away with the applause in Kochi, leaving its general secretary high and dry.
So this time, the CPM’s state unit decided to play safe with the two commandments — do clap for Karat and don’t drink. It seemed to have worked, because the public rally passed without a hitch.
The three-day central committee meeting, which had taken Karat and other CPM leaders to Kochi, ended today.
At the meeting, the leaders discussed the bleak election prospects — as compared to the last time, when it swept both Bengal and Kerala.
Reports from both state units said the situation that helped the CPM score big victories in the 2004 general election does not exist any more. Then, the CPM-led Left Front had won 35 of Bengal’s 42 seats and 18 of Kerala’s 20 seats.
The defeat in two byelections has worried the party in Bengal, where it is also concerned about a possible electoral alliance between the Trinamul Congress and the Congress. The central committee has directed the state units to declare candidates early.

The left parties need a shock treatment, the governance of WB and Kerala are that worst.Karat who played King-maker,by either critising or taking credit of all the policies of the UPA goverrnment for more that four years is now reduced to accepting artificial claps....!!Recently he has time only to try and reduce the internal party problems in WB and Kerala.
The Indian communists worship old Chinese leaders like Mao(Even though chinese themselves have moved forward from his original ideas). We Indians should always remember that it's because of china that pakistan is behaving the way it is towards India.china continuously helps pakistan with their weapons program and nuclear programs.china is occupying large chunks of Indian territory. But you won't remember a single instance of any leader from India's communist parties critising china even mildly.

Infosys not to touch tainted Satyam
Infosys Technologies, the country’s second-largest IT services exporter by sales, has told its human resources (HR) executives to refrain from hiring employees of Satyam Computer Services.
This comes a day after revelations of financial fraud at Satyam, which has left its 53,000 employees in a state of uncertainty.
“We have asked our recruitment staff not to poach anybody from Satyam. The company is in the middle of a crisis and people will jump ship,” Infosys Technologies HR, education & research and administration director TV Mohandas Pai said. On Wednesday, Infosys had ruled out any possibility of taking over Satyam.
“We will not touch such a tainted company” Infosys founder and non-executive chairman N R Narayana Murthy had said.
A person familiar with the matter, who asked not to be named, said that Infosys would refrain from even hiring domain experts or project managers from Satyam. Infosys has even advised staff against entertaining calls from Satyam employees. This development comes as Satyam employees flood search firms and job portals with their resumes.
Although Satyam’s top management put up a brave face on Thursday, saying it has assured employees of their future, the flood of messages at job portals and frenzied blog postings tell a different story.
Addressing a conference on Thursday, Satyam’s interim CEO Ram Mynampati said that the company had taken care of employees’ December salaries but faced a cash crunch.
Report from indiatimes.
This is very sad.Why the employees are made scapegoats? What did they do to merit being untouchable?? This is one of the rare instances, where Narayana Murthy is wrong.Let him consider the company as tainted, but for God's sake how can he have same views on Satyam employees?By openly taking a stand that no Satyam employees will be given opportunity to apply for a job in Infosys,he is putting to risk the professional as well as personal life of so many Satyam employees who wants to get out of the Satyam mess.If Narayana Murthy takes such a stand, other companies also might take similar stand.Already there is huge impact of recession on IT industry and recruitments are at a very slow pace.
Infosys and Narayana Murthy and indeed other IT firms should be a little bit more sympathetic...
