Arrogant Italians - Justifications for killing Indians

Kill 2 innocents in cold blood. And instead of being apologetic, provide laughable justifications, explanations..

That's the Italian embassy in India for you..A role model in the 'Art of telling lies', going by their performance in the last 24 to 48 hours...

How pathetic..

ITALY..You should be ashamed of having such an embassy, which is issuing blatant lies..

SHAME on you...
Atleast apologize..Atleast say - you made a mistake..Every body makes mistakes. It takes courage to accept your mistakes and apologize. And there is no shame in doing so.

Don't make a fool of yourself by issuing statements that are absolute rubbish..

I am talking about the incident :
"killing of two Indian fishermen off the Kerala coast by Italian Navy personnel stationed abroad an Italian oil tanker ship".

The fishing boat, with 11 Indians on board, was fired upon, without any provocation at all, by the Italians..
At the time of the incident 9 of the 11 fishermen were sleeping..
The 2 who were awake was killed.

Now here is the statements issued by the Italians, justifying the cold-blooded murder :

Italian news agency Agenzia Giornalistica Italia reported that naval riflemen from the San Marco Battalion had “thwarted an attempt made by pirates to board the ship 30 miles west of the southern Indian coast.” “The soldiers,” it said, had “followed procedures, opening fire three times so as to dissuade them. After the third volley the pirates left.”

Italian Ambassador Giacomo Sanfelice di Monteforte said his country's Navy had followed procedures before opening fire. “What I want to underline,” he said, “is that the Italian ship moved voluntarily into the Kochi port.”

What procedures were followed??No agencies were alerted, which they should have done as per international maritime laws, if they indeed thought that the ship was under attack. That was the minimum they should have done. But not done.

Question is : WHY?

He, I assume is a senior diplomat, also utters a blatant lie - Italian ship moved VOLUNTARILY into the Kochi port..!!!

Being diplomatic is one thing..But issuing a blatant lie !
What was the need..

The issue came to light when the remaining fishermen informed the Indian authorities about what happened.

By all validated reports the ship was trying to flee when the Indian Navy and coast guard conducted a search operation, found them, communicated with them, identified them as the responsible party, surrounded them and directed them to move to the coast..

To give more details : Indian Navy & coast Guards identified 4 big ships as possible culprits.Decided to ask a simple message as to how their journey was till then and whether they faced any hardships. The other 3 ships replied back saying that their journey was fine, no problems faced. The Italian ship responded saying a boat came in their way and then got off.
--These are details given out by the Navy/Coast Guard units.
It needs to be underlined that the Indian Navy or Coast Guards do not have any vendetta against the Italians. So these are not fabricated statements coming out from the Indian side.

Note that during those initial contacts the Italians did not say anything about an attack on them..The fabricated pirate attack stories came up later..

What's the need for Italy to say all the lies that they are coming up with..

Is this the way the the foreign ministry of Italy behaves in international matters???

If yes, from now onwards when Italy says some thing, facts need to be DOUBLE Checked..
Or be ignored..

They have lost credibility..absolutely..

PIRATES..

Pirates of the Kerala state...Is it??     hmm
Or probably ' Pirates of the Caribbean ' in Indian coast on a one day tour to start an India-Italy diplomatic tussle.Mission accomplished and they went back!!!

Indian coast is not infected by any pirate problems..
As a nation, which hopefully is not sleeping, Italy should know this!!

Talking about the Italian Navy personnel who murdered the 2 innocent fishermen :
Can't they distinguish between armed and unarmed men - fishermen?
If they can't, it tells a story about the quality of the Navy personnel Italy has..

The Italians are saying that they opened fire 3 times to dissuade "pirates" and in some reports they are quoted as saying "warning shots were fired and then the pirates withdrew.."

Cry..Laugh..what..
What sort of an explanation is this..

The 2 who got killed : One had gunshot wound on his chest and the other was shot through his eyes..

Ok, so in Italy firing warning shots means firing on the chest and eye..!!!
If warning shot was that : only doubt is, when they start real firing, where will they shoot???

The captain of the ship (who might have given all these colorful, fantasy Hollywood stories to the Italian consulate/embassy) is refusing to come out of the ship and is refusing to co-operate!

Heard of house arrest??
Keep this guy under ship arrest, and keep the ship under Indian control, till the time this fugitive co-operates...

Why are the Italians refusing to co-operate, if they have nothing to hide??
It does look like they have some thing to hide..
Did the personnel involved thought they were on a hunting mission??

On the other hand, if it's a mistake, say so and accept it, instead of arrogantly issuing foolish statements..
2 families have lost their bread-winners..

Italy is behaving as if they are the wronged party here..!!

Who is the guilty party here??

You kill 2 innocents and you refuse to even co-operate to the investigation??

What crap is this??

India should not allow the ship and its crew to move away from the coast.
Let it be there.Let's see how long they refuse to co-operate..
And let's see how many more fancy stories they come up with..

But then, Indian governments are known to bow down to these kinds of ugly pressure tactics.

Hope, hope atleast this time the Indian government values the life of Indians.

Vice-Admiral K.N. Sushil, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command, told The Hindu newspaper in Kochi that there was no evidence to show that the Italian vessel had been attacked.

“It is crystal-clear that the fishermen were unarmed and were not attempting to come alongside the tanker to board it,” the Vice-Admiral said. “As the tanker crew claims to have been fired upon, I sent the fast-attack craft INS Kabra to ascertain if there were bullet marks on it. It went around the ship to find that there were none.”

There goes another lie..

Hope the Italian foreign ministry, their embassy/consulate/their press 'gets well soon'.
They are suffering from some disease whose symptoms are arrogance and 'mouthing-blatant-lies'..

This is absolutely shocking behavior from a so-called responsible nation...

See, the people of India are not against Italy or their policy of defending their ships by having Naval Marines on-board.And yes, mistakes can happen, the marines and the ship captain might have mistaken the fishing boat and that actually could be the reason for them opening fire.

The issue here is the unwillingness to accept that a grave error of judgement happened from the Italian side.
What should they have done?
Accept the mistake, Apologize and co-operate with the probe. That would have been more graceful.

The arrogance and blatant lies only severed one purpose : Add fuel to an already burning fire.Indian public were already angry with the killing of the 2 innocent fishermen, the lies made the situation complex..

Heart goes out to the family of those 2 poor Indian fishermen who got murdered..
