The Turkish shoe company making the brand of footwear used by an Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at US President George W Bush has seen a surge in orders.
They have received orders in the past week for some 300,000 pairs of the model that was thrown at the US president. It's also reported that, some Americans contacted the company to get distribution rights.
The entrepreneur wants to rename the model, a brown leather shoe with a thick sole, as the "Bush shoes".
In Turkey the shoes sell for $US42 wholesale.
Journalist Muntazer al-Zaidi remains in custody after being wrestled to the ground after throwing both his shoes at Bush during the president's Sunday news conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in Baghdad.
It's funny when some times some avoidable incidents end up helping some in a big way.The Turkish Shoe company owners would not have thought even in their wildest dreams that their brand will become world famous overnight ..
