Self Importance - Very Important : Just a matter of a phone call

Mamata Banerjee has hit out at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, saying that in 2006, when she was on a hunger strike on the Singur issue, he had come to Kolkata but not even telephoned her.

Mamataji, our PM knows what an important VVVVVVVVIP you are..!!
He did try to contact you..But there was no network coverage..!!

Next time when our PM visits West Bengal, let's hope and pray that there is more than enough network coverage and that he will visit your Office/Home, will touch your feet, seek blessings, seek guidance on how to run India, how to tackle corruption, how to tackle Team Anna, how to make Indian Test Team win a Test..!!

We will all pray Mamtaji..
Don't worry about that..

Afterall, you are a very important VVVVVVVVIP..(See the number of Vs, if needed will add more Vs..! Very Very Very...upto Infinity)

Gimmicks !! Crocodile Tears !

Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav promises to give jobs to rape victims..

I have a better plan Mulayam Sighjiii....You are promising jobs to rape victims..

Why not :

promise to eliminate rape itself!, - by ensuring more safety and security to women

promise to rehabilitate existing rape victims (yeah, a job will be ok, but will you keep your word,if elected??But then again making such a promise could infact encourage rape, is it not?? There is a chance, right??)

promise to ensure thorough and honest investigations

promise to ensure stringent punishment to those committing this heinous crime..

Above all it will be very nice, if you and other politicians like you don't suddenly remember victims when there is an election around the corner.

People will reject these promises with the contempt they deserve..

These are just election gimmicks..Nothing else..

All political parties have 2 hobbies in common when the reality of elections draws closer : giving away empty promises for FREE, indulge in communal politics!!

2014 General Elections - Is it required !

Congress general secretary Rashid Alvi declared in Lucknow on Monday (30-01-2012), that Rahul Gandhi's rise to the Prime Minister's chair in 2014 was a forgone conclusion.

Well, if that's the case, is there any need to waste public money by holding general elections 2014 ??

Journalists should have asked Mr.Alvi about seats that the congress is expecting to get, state-wise.

Let congress try and convince the opposition parties that there is no need for elections !

Afterall, who is going to be the PM is a foregone conclusion, right :|

What's up in Kolkata ???

Almost daily reports of infant deaths!!

And, and no one seems to CARE...

WHAT's going on in state-run B C Roy Memorial Children's Hospital, West Bengal..

Mamata's government seeks report every time, but nothing concrete seems to have been done, on a war footing, to stop these deaths!

"Malnutrition, being critically ill and underweight" - are reasons claimed..

But this does not absolve the government or health authorities, especially since this seems to be a repeating activity and not a one-off..

HOPE and pray that no more parents suffer the fate of seeing their new-borne die..

Mullaperiyar : A humble view from a Malayalee

Never wanted to write an article which could be accused of being partisan. But an article I read in 'The Hindu' forces me to write an article as below.

I apologize profusely if this blog post gives an impression of being a partisan view..

Below is the link to the article that was published by 'The Hindu' dated 01-Jan-2012.
Link : http://www.thehindu.com/news/states/kerala/article2764198.ece

It's an article which reconfirms Tamil Nadu government's arguments that the 116 year old 'as good as new dam' is  indeed 'AS GOOD AS NEW', infact it's also as strong as the muscles of Mr.arnold schwarzenegger.
And even Rajnikanth can't break it..
Forget any earth quake..huh..

Above all, the article is by a person who advices Tamil Nadu government on Water affairs, so pretty important and totally one-sided views..

Now for a humble view from the other side :

For good or worse, the dam is in the 'land of Kerala' and if it breaks, which is a possibility, due to it being in an earth quake prone area, and as it is 116 years old and build based on technology available during that period, people of Kerala, especially those living in 5 districts who will be drowned, has every right to feel UNSAFE, INSECURE, TERRIFIED, HELPLESS.

WE, the Indians living in Kerala, HAVE A RIGHT TO LIVE.Don't we? Hope so..

Mr.Mohanakrishnan is advisor (water resources) to the TN government. His views are those of a person who advices the TN govt to raise water levels to 152 !!!!
Let 'The Hindu' also publish articles by prominent Keralites..

As some one commented on the article in the 'The Hindu' website, let him or whoever is advising the TN govt on the Kudankulam N-power plant's safety, also write an article in 'The Hindu', on why they are opposing the plant.Because of safety concerns, RIGHT?? WHY THE DOUBLE STANDARDS???

Person of the integrity of Abdul Kalam has vouched for the safety of the N-plant.Still TN is not convinced !
And they are right, since it's a fight for 'right to live by the locals'.Safety concerns should always be given TOP priority.

Don't you understand , who all think that a 116 year old dam 'is as good as new', that the people of Kerala has the RIGHT TO LIVE??? Show some BASIC concerns !! WHY THIS TOTAL CONTEMPT and lack of care towards fellow Indians??? !!
Kerala government and all the parties are saying 'Water for TN & Safety for Kerala'.

No one, not one person in Kerala, is saying that Kerala should not give water to TN.
Even when LTTE supporters like Vaiko did a so-called economic blockage on Kerala, no one in Kerala said, enforce a retaliatory water block!!

No one in Kerala will say that, because people in Kerala know that getting water is the fundamental right of our brothers in TN.When this is the case, there is absolutely no reason to oppose building a new, strong dam. It's foolish to think that the dam will last 999 years !!
Let's have a new dam, instead of a 116 year old and counting 'AS GOOD AS NEW DAM'..!!

GOD forbid, if the dam breaks, lakhs will die in Kerala.
OK, that is of no concern to people like Mr.Mohanakrishnan, or Vaiko or Jayalalitha or Karunanidhi or Vijaykanth. But once the dam is gone, TN won't get even a drop of water, thereafter. That's the reality.

Think about this : if there was a role reversal, I have no doubt that there would have been a new dam long back !!

Is there no value to the life of Indians in Kerala?? Some one supporting TN's views, commented 'dismiss Kerala govt and enforce president's rule'.Let him understand that the whole of Kerala is united, as ONE, on 'Water for TN, Safety for Kerala'..

Also as for the threat to enforce more economic blockage by Vaiko and company, if any one in Kerala dare to utter 'new dam', let them understand that this is not a one way traffic :
  1. TN farmers will also suffer.
  2.  for Kerala there are other options too, to get the 'vegetables and so', which Kerala currently PURCHASES (not for 'FREE' from TN).
  3.  If we fail to purchase from other sources, it's not that these vegetables won't grow in the land of Kerala.
  4. Don't think like America, uttering words like 'ECONOMIC BLOCKAGE'...!!
One fails to understand the motive behind Tamil Nadu politicians' reason for denying right to live of people living in 5 districts of Kerala.Especially since a new dam could only ensure uninterrupted water supply to farmers in Tamil Nadu and will alleviate the current tensions.

In-between all this, comic relief was provided by the Congress MPs from TN.They want Idukki District to be made part of TN.Hope they get well soon. And hope Sonia Gandhi provides them the best medical care available..

Closing my comments by saying "Water for our dear brothers in TN & Safety for Kerala"..
That's the ONLY thing people of Kerala wants. We value the need of water of our farmers in the 5 districts of Tamil Nadu.

AS an Indian, I don't consider people in those districts as some aliens..!!
I consider them as Indians, my dear brothers. It's their right to have good living conditions.
So to the politicians of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, PLEASE don't play politics. Please don't make brothers fight against each other. Our fight should only be to make India stronger. Not weaker internally..
Please sit and talk..

What's wrong in talking??

If the dam is iron-strong, 'as good as new' and will last the whole 999 years and even a strong earth quake won't break it or even if it breaks the whole water and the force of water and all other stuff that will come with the water can be blocked by the Idukki dam, let this be educated, with solid proof, to the people of Kerala, who are living in fear. And Tamil Nadu & the Indian Government should be held completely responsible for death of 40+ Lakh Indians, if GOD forbids, the dam breaks..hmm

Or if on the other hand, if people of Kerala could not be convinced, and if indeed there is a possibility that lakhs of Indians could die, let the people of Tamil Nadu be educated, be informed, that for the good of people of both Tamil Nadu and Kerala, a new dam is required.

This will ensure uninterrupted water for the 5 districts of Tamil Nadu and will alleviate the safety concerns of 5 districts of Kerala.

Hope after this post, there is no accusation of being partisan.Just wrote what I think is the collective views of people of Kerala.

I am also deeply pained by the stray incidents of attacks on Tamilians in Kerala by anti-social elements and hope both TN & Kerala governments take strong actions to prevent such stray incidents.

Wishing all my brothers and sisters in Tamil Nadu, Kerala & indeed in the whole of India 'A very Very Happy New Year.."Hope Tamil Nadu and Kerala can sort out our Mullaperiyar differences in 2012, amicably, and live as brothers and sisters, in a more peaceful, stronger, prosperous INDIA..

WE ARE INDIANS..LET'S SHOW CONCERNS TO THE SAFETY AND WATER CONCERNS OF EACH OTHER..

If Mullaperiyar dam does not break, will keep blogging..Thanks :)
